The state of Indiana allows the residents to request for a copy of their personal documents, otherwise a special permission has to be obtained to proceed with the retrieval of other people's file.

There are also other methods in getting a copy of a divorce certificate in Indiana. One can send a mail request addressed to the county office where the divorce was filed. If this information is not known, sending a mail request to the Vital Records Section can help verify where to obtain the document. Unfortunately, sending a mail request can take several days before the results can be obtained. This is why the Internet is now used by many to gain access to such documents.

The Internet has made the retrieval of marriage and divorce records hassle free and fast. It has eliminated the need to go to the office just to file the request. One can even do the search at the comforts of their own home and the results can be delivered in just a few seconds instead of days. This is why residents of Indiana would prefer to conduct the search through the Internet.
