The death of an individual generates a death certificate for legal purposes. In Alaska, the residents of the state are given access to the Alaska death records, especially the records of their loved ones.

Making death certificates open to the general public has allowed easy access and retrieval for many. Most death certificates are requested by the immediate family members of the deceased would use it in insurance related transactions. Some government transactions would also call for the death certificate of an individual. As the name suggests, a death certificate would contain information about the death of an individual. All of the public documents of Alaska are being managed at the office of the Vital Records Section. This includes the state's death records. A mail order can also be done to get a copy of the file. However, one should have the needed requirement attached to the mail request to have it processed and to avoid hassle and delay. It usually takes a maximum of six weeks for the result of the search to be released. The long wait time can be avoided by doing the search through the Internet.

Online death records search is now available to the public. This offers easy and convenient retrieval process which allows the residents of Alaska to get a copy of a death certificate in just a few seconds. The search is even possible at home thus making it convenient for many since it has eliminated the need to go to any office at all. Several websites are now offering such service. Some would offer to do it for free while others charge a reasonable service fee. Whichever one would go for, one should still be careful and go only to legitimate sites to avoid being scammed and tricked.
