Five Popular Conservative Catholic Blogs Worth The Time

By Katina Brady

The Catholic Church is under pressure to adopt a liberal approach to issues and rites. As the tussle ranges on, conservative catholic blogs have emerged to defend the traditional position taken by the Vatican based church. These blogs, run by both religious and laity, have gained popularity because of their articulate nature in defense of traditional stands.

Offerimus Tibi Domine- the blog is updated by Fr. Henry Simon whose stand is that faithful must not be directly involved in the performance of the liturgy for it to be inclusive. There are many avenues of contributing to the Paschal Mystery. If everyone plays his or her role effectively, the liturgy will be fulfilling and colorful.

Fr. Henry once used the Offerimus Tibi Domine platform to show the hand of God in preventing Martini from ascending to papacy. In his opinion, John Paul II lived long enough to allow Martini to get old and be overtaken by time. This paved way for Benedict VI to take over. This remains a controversial post to-date.

Sense of the Sacred- the blog examines the idea of sacred time, space, meditation, etc. It explains the importance of signs and symbols within the church and their significance in the journey to heaven. The author, Fr. Jojo, looks at emerging issues from a sacred perspective.

Sense of the Sacred has been used on several occasions to defend bishops and cardinals in different parts of the world. Fr. Jojo says that the world fails to understand these shepherds because they use the voice of God which is different from that of men. Movement towards a liberal world is staining humanity.

The Hermeneutic of Continuity- this is the work of a sacramental theologian called Fr. Tim Finigan. He is a respected lector at St. Johns Seminary and other such institutions. He also lectures on dogma and has been defending the traditional church since he was ordained in 1984.

The Hermeneutic of Continuity attracted the attention of the world when Christians in Pakistan were ridiculed over tomatoes. In his response, he termed this as a saintly act that should elicit pride. Fr. Tim is a great defender of sacraments and dogma as practiced by the Rome based church.

Meeting Christ in the Liturgy- It is by an accomplished writer called Fr. Kelvin. He has been running the blog for over ten years and has attracted more than a million followers. He once served in the US Navy in Iraq. He holds an MA in Sacred Theology.

Meeting Christ in the Liturgy seeks to expound on daily readings and how they relate to present day life. He was courageous to pick on Cardinal Dolan in his argument about Pro Life. Fr. Kelvin sticks to the traditional stand that life can only be created and taken by God and not based on issues outside the body of a woman.

Fr. Blakes Blog- this platform is articulate and thoroughly researched. The brevity of Fr. Blake is admirable as a defender of traditional Catholic rites and dogma. He contends that while dissenting voices are welcome, their contribution must not be considered as valuable to cause change.
