Educators are known for their unique teaching method. Their system was developed by Italian parents and the teacher of their children, Loris Malaguzzi in Italy. It was instituted in order to improve the type of primary education that was available at that time.

Instead of having their focus on a teacher who is supposed to give them oversight and present them with all the information that they should have, their teachers design activities for them which allow them to explore the world around them. This is basically discovery learning and it is used in many school systems. However, this particular institution places more emphasis on it. The aim is to foster the development of skills which benefit kids even in adulthood.

Most people are kinesthetic learners to some extent. That is, they learn through movement or by doing things. Some people prefer that style more than others and tend to rely on it more. In some systems, students do not get to move around a lot and they lose the chance to get extra information in that way. In Reggio Emilia institutions, students are encouraged to use their ears and eyes, to touch things and have a relationship with others in their environment.

Since the children learn at their own pace and on their own time, there is less pressure for them. They are also less likely to associate learning with a demanding endeavor or one that includes passes and fails. Instead, every experience has value and contributes to the overall understanding that a child has. Children get an education and memories that will help them to build a life that they really like.

In this type of teaching method, a little child is free to hone skills they really need. This is completely opposite to some systems in which children have to learn skills and then forget about them within a year of graduation. This happens because they rarely use that training in real life.
