The Different Private Tutor Kinds

By Wanda Rosner

Occasionally, parents many find themselves in need of a private tutor to support their kids in school work. No doubt many would go online to the tutor finder site and search for a private tutor. It is however, not as easy as many think since there are many types of tutors. You have to be tutor specific in accordance to the specific needs of your child.

Tutors who teach children between the ages of 4 and 5 before they enter kindergarten are called pre k tutors. They mainly encourage children to read and love learning. They teach patience as the child is made to listen to stories. One tactic is that they use puppets and involve children in storytelling. Furthermore, they teach the alphabet and basic phonics to achieve their goal of improved comprehension and vocabulary.

Increasing difficulty in learning and passing standardized tests may need the services of an elementary tutor. Elementary grades are usually the basis for this kind of tutoring for middle and high school levels. They help in a broad number of subjects that include math, science, social studies and even music.

If your kid needs help in getting ready for high school, general tutors are called upon and they help mostly middle and high school level children. As kids progress from middle school to high school, the intensity of tutoring also increases. These tutors thus support them in a wide spectrum of subjects, support them to finish homework and pass their exams.

For kids who have special needs, it is best to hire a special education tutor since they are specially trained for that task. They usually have a degree in special education and will offer special services to children with an array of conditions. This may include autism, dyslexia, speech and language issues and other special needs. They are very flexible as they can work with people of different ages and abilities.

Specialty subject tutors provide extra help to high schoolers in a particular subject. If the dream of a student is to become a doctor, it is reasonable to hire a tutor who specializes in biology to help them land their dream college. These types of tutors are great for high schoolers and newbies in college who may need help in their courses.

Test prep tutors provide support to kids of any age by preparing standardized tests or specialized admission tests. They are mainly used for high school students preparing for college entrance exams. However, parents today are also using them for preschool kids to be tested for admission tests to special gifted and talented programs and specialized schools.

Kids who just need assistance to get through day-to-day homework challenges probably need a homework helper. They do not have to be intensively trained and one can even hire senior kids. They just provide basic homework assistance and supervision where necessary. This particularly helps middle and high school level students who want to focus and take their work seriously. There are many types of tutors and it is upon the parent to sort out which is the best one to tutor their child.
