California Criminal Records

By Ben Kingsley

California is a growing state with San Diego as one of its major cities. The number of people who resides in San Diego is also increasing thus, one should be wary of their safety. San Diego arrest records are made open to the public to let its residents access it anytime that they deem it necessary.

Arrest records of the city and the state are used by the local residents in a number of reasons. Employers request for this document on a regular basis. Such document is used to help them in deciding whether to keep an employee or lay them off. Arrest records can help them identify those that they can trust. With this, problems in the company can be avoided. The local residents of the state also use such document to check on the records of the people around them. This helps them to feel secured and safe in their neighborhood.

The arrest records that are issued in the city of San Diego and the state of California have the same information. They both contain details about the arrest of a certain individual. The record would show the date and the place of the arrest along with the details of how the person was arrested through the notes taken by the officer. The document would also show the crimes that the individual has committed together with the charges that was filed against him/her. One would also know whether the person has been sentenced for his crimes or not. The record is only made public once the case has been closed otherwise it remains private and confidential.

A lot of issues have been raised about making the arrest records open to the general public. One of which is that people who have records may not be able to get a decent job. As mentioned earlier, company owners refer to such documents to filter out their employees. Avoiding problems in the workplace is among the top priorities of business owners, thus some are very strict in implementing such policies. They prefer to hire people who have clean records only because studies have shown that many of the crimes that are reported are done by individuals who have a criminal history. There is still hope for those who wish to land a good job without feeling discriminated and this is to expunge one's criminal files. Sealing one's file allows individuals to claim that they have no criminal history, thus they can get the job that they wanted.

The State Police Department is where the arrest records of California can be obtained. In San Diego, it can be requested at the court office of the city. Just like any government request, fees have to be paid to have the request processed. Requesting for the record at any offices can take a while. At most it can take up to 10 days but this can be lessened when the search is done online.

California arrest record is not only made a public document but it is now available through the Internet. This means that the people of the state can easily get a copy of their arrest record anytime that they need it. There is no need to go to the office to file the request and the record can be obtained in just seconds instead of days.
