For the individuals wishing to engage in fishing, there is also a requirement for one to have a fishing license. It is illegal for one to remove marine organisms from the islands waters. Every person is expected to have acquired a recreational fishing permit. Moreover, the activity is only done within two hundred miles exclusive economic zone, and the vessels must be certified.

People are not required to get involved in any activity that can risk the lives of turtles and their eggs in a specified period when not in season. The government has set aside the months from April to November is the specified period. Also, no one ought not to use guns or spears during fishing. A fine of fifteen thousand dollars can be imposed on them.

The government has abolished removal of seashells, sand and any other material from BVI beaches. This helps to protect injuring, removing, breaking or any destruction of living coral and mangroves along the islands. For that reason, enabling them to grow without tampering with them in any way. Therefore, one is not allowed to pull fishing nets along the shorelines.

Lastly, people are expected to have licenses for private jetties, buoys, and other marine facilities. There is an annual fee applicable for all commercial and non-commercial facilities.
