The Importance Of Having British Virgin Islands Law

By Timothy Kennedy

The best societies in the world are based on law and order. Those are the two most important matters in society. Without them, a society is as good as dead. Lawlessness and lack of order are the two characteristics of a failed society. The British Virgin Islands (BVI) society is not a failed society in any way. As a matter of fact, it is one of the most successful societies in the entire world. That is because there is British Virgin Islands law that is usually respected and followed by the citizens of this territory.

According to the law, People have rights. They also have freedoms. In any democratic society, there is a good deal of freedoms. People have a freedom of assembly. They can assembly in public and discuss issues. People are also free to demonstrate even if there are demonstrating against the government. However, a demonstration must be peaceful. In dictatorships, people have little or no freedoms. They follow dictates.

With rights come responsibilities. Rights cannot exist without responsibilities. Every human being needs to live in a responsible manner. Failure to do so can lead to legal action. It is the responsibility of every resident of British Virgin Islands to pay taxation and to take good care of his surroundings. One must not throw trash everywhere. That is bad.

Taxation is a big responsibility. No one can escape taxation. It is just like death. The good thing about the BVI is that there are very friendly taxation rates. Individuals have to pay an income tax that is calculated based on their monthly income. For the case of corporations, corporate tax is paid on the net profit at the end of the year.

Because of existence of a comprehensive body of BVI company law, companies from different countries can seamlessly do business in this part of planet earth. The legal stipulations cover the formation of companies. For a company to be formed there has to be a minimum of two members. There are also documents that have to be submitted to the company registrar.

The constitution exists for a reason. Any country that does not have a constitution can simply be called a banana republic. The BVI constitution borrows heavily from the British constitution. As a matter of fact, there are many similarities. To be able to modify the constitution in any way, there is the need to carry out a referendum.

The professional who is an expert of the constitution is called a lawyer. In the modern day world, legal services are no longer a luxury. As a matter of fact, they are a basic need. Most people will need legal assistance at one point in their lives. There is the need to find an attorney who has a very good reputation.

Illegality is something bad. It should be discouraged with the strongest terms. Legal living needs to be the case irrespective of where one resides. Rights and responsibilities are a two-way traffic. That means that as much as one wants his rights to be respected, he should also respect the rights of other people.
