A family is considered as any voluntary union between a man and a woman for life. Although, these days, due to changes in lifestyle, adjustments have been made in order to favor same sex union in some countries. But the traditional definition of a family remains the same in most countries that do not favor same sex marriage. Of course the union has to be accompanied by some proof of either a marriage certificate with witnesses according to the law. Facts concerning Brampton Ontario family lawyers.

Various reasons make people want to come together and form families. In Africa, the most common reason accepted through generations is continuation of the family names as this can only happen through families. From a religious point of view families are considered sacred, meant to support morality within the community and must be protected.

Financial dependency is another reason for marriage nowadays. Marrying a financially stable person automatically transfers wealth to the partner. However, such marriages may fail basing on various aspects such like, death, domestic misunderstandings, and unfaithfulness among others.

When separation is required in a marriage then family law is to be observed. Being law like other laws, this law concentrates mainly on intimate adult relationships, families, property, and children and parents. This law ensures that children orphaned, widowers and widows are taken care of, it ensures that families are protected from outsiders, mostly extended families. Property owned by families are also protected under this law.

This subspecialty of law also ensures that justice is properly administered to the members of families since it protects the rights of partners in any marriage. It not only ensures that equality is upheld between different parties in the relationship, but also helps solve disputes. The main goal of this is to ensure that morality is upheld especially in the current society in the everyday life.

Divorce cases have risen sharply and legitimate marriages have decreased rapidly. A lot of children are born out of wedlock and require care financially, physically and emotionally. This has led to the development of cohabiting families hence the need to protect these children. Though traditional marriage allows marriage of more than one woman the Christian marriage is fixated on one-woman marriage. This makes things complicated for the other woman.

The law requires that if a man has an unofficial marriage outside and as a result, the woman conceives, then the man has to take responsibility. The man must register the woman as a second wife and become a parent to the child as well. This is clearly evident in some countries where a given proportion of their salary is cut to cater for the children born out of wedlock.

Although family law exists a lot of people have no idea of what it represents as a result many civil cases are not reported. Some times the cost of getting a lawyer may be too high for the parties involved to afford. In some cases, the parties simply lack trust to seek help from courts.
