Major Complaints That Surrounded The Ashford Settlement Issue

By Joanna Walsh

Settling financial matters in court has never been an easy endeavor. There are a lot of issues that have to be tackled and series of investigations that has to be conducted. Both sides that are involved in a case has to provide detailed account of anything that will help them settle the matter during a trial.

There are a lot of corporate issues that can be related to this. Some of them has dragged on for years, milking a significant amount of money to those parties involved. What happened in the Ashford settlement is one of the most recent example of this. In this issue however, the school decided to just end the matter at once rather than continue dragging their name to trial.

Of course, the price of the settlement can vary. In this case, the school had to pay an amount of 7.25 million dollar settlement. It is no small thing. And paying it can mean serious financial concern especially for smaller companies.

The major issue behind this case is the alleged misleading recruitment process done by the school to those who are interested to get online classes. The students are led to believe that what they are paying for will allow them to get the necessary licenses and accreditation that will enable them to teach on different schools. It did not.

Rather than getting the licenses that they expert, they are left with more required courses to take before they can have it. Of course, this issue has raised some eye browse and more questions on the part of those who enrolled. They were not informed of any processes related to this. Worse, the additional courses do not just come for free.

At first the complains were minor and were not taken into serious consideration. But as the number of clients filed formal complaints, the more people get interested. Eventually, it garnered national attention. With some students not finishing their studies and some being burdened debts, the case formed was strong enough to get Ashfords attention.

Of course, Ashford remained firm on its conviction that they have always been committed to students success and will continue as such. It has also been a part of the settlement that they make some changes on some of their practices nationwide. With these agreement, there is no need to go to formal trial that may drag for a long time.

The 7.25 million that they pay will be given back to the students. A contacting mechanism will be done in order to get in touch with other students who have not filed a report but is considered a valid recipient for the refund. Those who are enrolled at present will be communicated properly as well.

There might still be ongoing issues about the settlement. But given the arrangements that has been made, the case is expected to be totally resolved soon. If you are among the possible recipients for the refund, take to know if there are some necessary documents that you need to submit in order to avai of it.
