One On One Tutoring For Student Reading Programs

By Jocelyn Davidson

The success of a tutoring program you will select largely depends on the prudence taken of selecting, training and supervising the teachers. It also depends on the design of contents in the lesson design. Tutors who participate in the one on one tutoring can be with different agendas, with making quick money probably being one of the expected reasons. Tutors you select must be willing to make a positive impact in the life of a student and see derivation of pride from their improvement. The right program will produce the right results.

Some of materials taught, some students may already have knowledge on the subject. If there is a mix of the strong and weak students the former may feel disenfranchised as they have to contend with the rest of a group being at par with them. They might consider the tutoring as a waste of time. The weak students on the other hand may refrain from relaying their weaknesses for fear of inconveniencing the others.

Coming up with a teaching technique that everyone can understand is usually very challenging. One of the one on one teaching the teacher can come up with is a plan of study so as to be able to identify the weaknesses and strengths of their students and use this as a blueprint guide of where to dwell more. Any concept that cannot be understood by a student will require more time for both parties to focus on.

Once in a while the tutors teaching strategies will require to be reinforced so as to create a more fruitful program. Many schools nowadays usually rely on volunteers in the community to work more with the students. One shortcoming of this is that there will be supervision and training that accompanies this.

It is not an essential necessity to have a prior experience for you to be a tutor. The pool of them is very diverse cutting across gender, race, occupation (whether employed or not). Training involves participating in orientation sessions that are tailored to meet the requirements of an institution.

The one on one program keeps them focused and more responsive in the lesson as compared to in being class. It is usually a common behavior in teens especially while in groups to think so much about what their peers will perceive of them. It is one of the major impediments hindering participation during class. Asking too many question is usually considered to be stupid.

The formats of instruction used to supplement the programs must be designed carefully by non-professional tutors if they are to be easily and correctly administered to the students. For you to assume that any tutor will be capable of applying the appropriate mechanisms of correction is unfounded. Writing instructions should be detailed and generally avoid long instructions which usually interfere with the tutors flow in their lessons and confused them generally as well.

When there is a cordial relationship between the tutor and the student the session tends to be healthier and have more productive outcomes. The focus will be more on their work and not at the deficiencies of a teacher. Do not shy away from considering this program if you want to see improvement in grades of your school.
