When you're trying to teach your children new things, you have to create a good learning environment that will encourage their intellectual growth. Stony Brook Summer Camp is one of those places that have spent years perfecting programs geared towards getting the best possible results.
Teach them another language in the home
Why not make everyday language an education for your child? By speaking another language in the home that is exactly what you are doing. Most children pick things up really fast and it is actually known to be much easier to learn a language as a child rather than later in life. That being said, make sure that you and your spouse are invested in the idea. This is something that takes teamwork and you may need to brush up on the language yourself.
Read with Them
Rather than wasting money on a glorified "daycare", give your child something that they will cherish for the rest of their life, a musical talent. This may take time out of your schedule or you can allocate the money that you would have spent on the preschool and send it over to the music teacher.
Once you have the right learning environment, you should re-evaluate it on a regular basis to see if it's something that will work for you over the long haul. Many times you will find that your current classes demand more of you and for that reason, you need to change your learning environment.
What Goes Into a Learning Environment
Teach them simple things
Whether it is to cook or just make their bed. There are hundreds of things at home that they can learn. Whether they are a boy or girl they all need to learn how to take care of a home. Too many boys don't know how to cook and they end up starving when they get to college or even when they come home and they find that mom and dad are gone. This is one way to help make your child more self-relient.
Camps
You may have experts in your neighborhood. Why not send your kids over there to learn some crafts or skills even when they are supper little. There is no time like the present to get your child out there and into the world.
You could be someone who learns best from taking notes while sitting in a classroom; however, it's not something that you should stick with if you're not seeing immediate results. There's nothing wrong with changing how you approach the situation before it has the potential to derail all the progress you have made thus far.
