How To Apply To A Psychology School

By Girish Jaju

Having a good understanding of the steps for applying to the psychology school of your choice is imperative if you want to be sure that you would be accepted not just into that school but also into the psychology program that you are planning to take. To help you out in getting information about the application process which is used by most psychology schools today, here is a guide that you can follow.

Because many psychology schools ask for a number of requirements, it would be best to first ask for all of the requirements that you need to meet and submit to the school. To do this, you can either call up their admissions department or visit their website.

You should then get a copy of their application form. Again, you can get this either through downloading it from their website or through asking for one from their admissions department. Once you have an application form, you should then fill it out accurately and completely before submitting it online or directly to the school. Note that when you submit the application form, you may also be required to pay an application fee.

You should then gather all of the other requirements and documents that the school is asking for. This can include: transcript/s from your previous school/s; a personal statement or an essay you have written that describes your goals and your interest in the field of psychology; letters of recommendation; and your curriculum vitae. If you are planning to get financial help through applying for a financial assistance program of the school, then you may also need to submit other requirements and documents.

Once you have submitted the application form and other requirements, you would then have to take the entrance exam as well as go through an interview. You may be exempted from these, however, if you have a high GPA. To get more information about this, make sure to contact the school you are applying to directly.

After submitting the application form and the requirements, taking the test, and undergoing the interview, all you need to do would be to wait for the school to process your application; and once you get the good news, you should be on your way towards getting the education you need before pursuing a career in psychology.
