As a tutor, you should find fun methods to help your student while studying. This enables your student to be able to recall things easily. In some cases, one has to deal with students who have disabilities. Common disabilities that one deals with are such as autism and dyslexia. As a tutor it is required that you know what you are dealing with. Treat such a child as your peer and not like a baby who requires a lot of attention. Always know your position. This means that you should recognize that you are in the same status as your student and you are not a professor. Do not struggle to be authoritative. Work with the student and what he or she wants to accomplish. As a tutor you should be keen to find out any unidentified problems. The session should involve a lot of student participation.

Tutors are also trained on assessment of their tutees. This is a way to ensure that there is a good understanding of the subject taught. This is by asking simple questions. Find good ways to correct your students and ensure you do not put them down. Encourage them to do better next time by giving ways to deal with their problems.

Greeting a student as the session begins is essential to create a rapport. This enables both of you to be comfortable around each other. It is important to also find out the strengths and weak points of the student. This can definitely help during your sessions. Praising your students is a huge motivator to them. It is an amazing feeling when someone recognizes your effort.

Ensure your tutor is good enough before you let them go. Ensure they know how they ought to behave. The basics should be at their fingertips. They should praise their students and motivate them however possible. Tutoring is a good method of improving yourself academically. Any student with such an agenda should not hesitate trying it out as ideal results have been experienced.
