By Bonnie Contreras

There are thousands of benefits that you will obtain when you attend etiquette classes in DC. These gatherings will help you and your child grasp several different concepts of proper dining and obtaining manners in general. These classes are great to use to help your children learn understand how to respect others and how to treat others.

Waiting your turn to speak is something that a lot of people cannot seem to grasp the concept of. Some adults are just as guilty as some children are. When you are having a conversation with someone, it is proper and fair to let them have their turn to speak. When the person has finished speaking, it will be your turn, and the other person will have to remain quiet while you are speaking. This is a great way to teach your child how to be patient.

Name calling is something that just about everyone took part in when they were children. If you were not taught that this is not showing good manners, you will not have any idea that this is something that you should not do and you will not know why you should not do it.

Saying please and thank you are basic manners that every child and adult should use. The words please and thank you are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to proper manners, but this is a great place to start when you are introducing the lessons of having manners to your child. If you use please and thank you on a daily basis, your child will learn quickly.

Table manners are one thing that not all adults or children for that matter have grasped the concept of. When you are at the table, whether you are eating breakfast, lunch or dinner, there are things that you should and should not do while you are at the time. Singing at the table is something that you should not do.

Having manners when you are out in public are a major deal. You may have taken notice to some children or adults who can't seem to act right or behave when they are out in public. The quicker you stop your child from misbehaving in public, the smoother your outings will be. When you are in public, you should walk straight up and never slouch. You should always use the proper tone instead of hollering and causing a big scene.

Doing things a certain way, such as the way you set the dinning room table, is known as a custom. If you begin showing your child at a young age how to properly set the table and how to sit at the table, table manners and other manners will come natural to them because they are custom to doing things a certain way.

The etiquette classes in DC can offer a parent and child beneficial knowledge for co-existing in society. Not too many parents want to be known as the mother or father who cannot control their child when they are out in public. These classes can help you and your child how to properly maintain in today's society.
