Ethical Hacker Classes - Why Are They Important?

By Fra Arellano

Hackers are frequently the bad guys in the stories we read, the movies we watch, and the news that we are told. From what we know, they can easily steal top secret data from government agencies and private organisations, as well as penetrate the information system of multi-million dollar firms. They are the bad guys that can use information for their own advantage. But even so, a lot of us still secretly admire their expertise. They are not all bad guys, however. Some of them are even the good guys.

The good guys are the hackers who can stop system and security violations brought on by illegal hackers. It is important that they have identical skills and possess the same, if not more, expertise as their unlawful counterparts. Because the only way that they can defend a company's IT fortress and deter others from breaking into its security system is to know how it's being done in the first place. And that is why there are ethical hacking classes being offered in IT schools.

Students taking ethical hacking courses are given thorough training in hacking so they would know how to guard a system from being hacked by outsiders. They would learn how to get into the same system, and how to spot the weaknesses and loopholes of an IT system to thwart malicious third parties from taking advantage of them.

Threats are very real online. A restricted access system is not truly safe because there are people who have the resources and the ability to gain access to it for their own benefit. The result, most of the time, is unfavourable and even dangerous to others. It's crucial that people who are hired to protect the IT system of a company know how to hack it as well because they are the only ones who can comprehend how it works and therefore stop others from doing so. It's no wonder why many private companies and government organisations hire skilled ethical hackers.

Ethical hacker courses need students to be well versed in various programming languages first. They should also have solid knowledge on various Operating Systems and network devices so it is best if they take a number of computer lessons before they enrol in an ethical hacking course. They should consider going to specialised computer programmes, such as Windows server courses and advanced programming courses, in a Singapore IT training company before anything else. Otherwise, they would have a hard time keeping up with the lessons.
