Appreciating Everything About Ashford Settlement

By Rebecca Bell

The Iowa state Attorney General in May 2014 accused the Ashford University of using some sales practices that were unconscionable in nature when attempting to lure students to enroll in their academic programs. Its actions were a complete violation of some important clauses set in the Fraud Act in Iowa. The parent company of the university, Bridgepoint Education Inc. And the university itself had to enter into an Ashford settlement with the office of the Attorney General.

The deal involved the appointment of an independent and neutral Settlement Administrator. His functions are to investigate, observation and then writing annual reports of the compliance of Ashford and BPI. The reports will then be given to the Attorney General and also the two companies.

The AG received an amount totaling to $7,250,000 as the agreement amount. The money would be used to serve a number of purposes which would be at the discretion of the Iowa AG. There was some money in this amount that would be channeled towards reimbursing some Iowa residents who were enrolled in the university before or after this agreement was made back in the month of May 2014.

The people that are eligible to receive the money set aside from the agreement are not to be decided upon by the settlement administrator. Only a certain number of Iowa residents that were enrolled in the University will be eligible to get the reimbursements. In order for you to establish whether you are eligible, you ought to contact the Iowa office of the Attorney General and speak to the paralegal named Cari Sagar.

This is also the same office that will contact you directly if you are one of the beneficiaries.
