Top Rated Terminal Illness Books

Terminally ill persons and their care givers have numerous titles to read and better cope with their situation. Some of the books are personal experiences while others are narrations of the actions and experiences of care givers. The terminal illness books will take you through the mind of the patient or help you handle your relative or friend better.

The Fault In Our Stars- this is an amazing story by John Green about a teenage girl who has been diagnosed with cancer. She enlists into a support group that is made up of terminally ill teenagers. The book traces the lives of other teenagers battling different conditions. They love and social lives are intriguing.

My Sisters Keeper- this is the work of Randy Pausch that focuses on the reaction after the bombshell about being terminally ill is dropped. It helps you understand this moment. Persons waiting for their results and caregivers will find it very resourceful. It delves into the mind of an anxious patient and tells of their expectations and reactions.

Before I die- Jenny Downham takes you through the life of a patient with only a few months to live. Amidst hospital appointments, drugs with devastating side effects and numerous tests, she comes up with a To Do Before I Die List. The number one on the list is surprisingly sex. The new experiences emanating from the To Do List bring her failing body to life. It is an interesting look at the final stages of life.

Deadline- The final year meant a lot for Ben Wolf and he has big plans. A terminal disease causes him to change his plans and become everything he ever wanted within a year. His plan is to be cheeky during civics class, save a drunken friend and be the best footballer. He plans to do this in secret, but as he will learn, other people have secrets too.

Me and the Earl and the Racing Girl- Jesse Adrews tells of Greg Gaines who has mastered high school espionage. His partner in secrecy is Earl. In an attempt to control his life, his mother demands that he gets back with Rachel, a leukemia patient. Rachel has given up on treatment which gives Greg an idea that he can make a movie. The movie idea is a big flop but it alters the destiny of everyone. Greg has to abandon his secret life and learn to handle the limelight.

Ruin- Rachel van Dyken explores the conflict in understanding the needs of persons who are terminally ill. Michals appears into the life of a depressed lady with the promise of changing her situation. The patient warns her but he still embarks on the journey. The appearance of Michals makes thing worse for her leading to ruin. The 250 pages capture the conflict in a captivating manner.

Death of a Super Hero- Antony McCarten narrates the story of Donald, a teenager who turns violent because of his condition. His obsession with sex, music and drugs worries his parents and teachers. They wish he can fight his battles without escapism. While the parents hope that the psychologist will offer a solution, he becomes a victim in need of salvation.
